How to Create Party Streamers With Photoshop
If you have a party store business or do wedding planning, you might want to be able to create your own advertising. One cool graphic you can create for your ads, signs or flyers would be party streamers. While you might be able to download such graphics they might not be exactly what you want. And they probably wouldn't have transparency, which would make it difficult to place them against another surface. A better approach is to create your own party streamer graphics in Adobe Photoshop.

Open Photoshop. Then select "File" and click "New." In the dialog box that opens make the pixel width and height whatever you need for whatever ad you might use the streamers for. Keep in mind though that images produced in Photoshop are not infinitively expansible without loss of sharpness (unlike vector graphic images). Make the background "Transparent" and click "OK."

Select the "Pen" tool. Use it to draw out a rough shape of a wavy streamer. Then change the "Pen" to the "Convert" tool. Use this tool to select the "Bezier Curve" points in the shapes. Then use the "tangent" bars on either side of the points top adjust the curves to make them more curvy.

Click on the "Path" tab above the "Layers" panel. Right click on the path you see and from the options choose "Make Selection." Click on "Selection in the menu and select "Save Selection." In the dialog that opens name the selection "Streamer" and save it.

Go to the "Layers" panel and click on the "New Layer" icon. With the new layer selected, select the "Gradient" tool. Change the gradient colors to whatever you want. Drag the gradient across the selection. Now use the "Move" tool to place the streamer where you want on the canvas. Go to "Selection" and hit "Load Selection." Load the Streamer selection. Then create another layer and fill it with a different colored gradient. Move this streamer as well.

Repeat Sep 4 until you have all the streamers you want in the graphic. Save it as a PNG file that can then be pasted against whatever background you choose.
