Step 1
Check household fuses and circuit breakers. If the circuit breakers have been tripped, replace the fuse(s) or reset the circuit breaker(s). Also, check the power supply. Electric dryers require a power supply of at least 240 volts. If the problem continues, the source may be due to electrical failure. Call an electrician for further assistance.
-
Step 2
Close the dryer door firmly. The door may not be fully closed, even if it looks shut; the latch may not be properly engaged. If you have a model with both an upper and lower latch, both must be secure in order for the dryer to run.
-
Step 3
Press down on the the "Start" button for at least 5 seconds before letting go. The larger the load, the more you will need to press down on the button to get it to start.
-
Step 4
Check the "Cycle Control" knob or "Sensor Dry." Some models will not start if set on the "Wrinkle Prevent" option.
-
Step 5
Turn off the "Controls Lock" feature. Some models will not start if the "Controls Lock" feature is on. Press and hold the "Cycle Signal" for three seconds to turn it off.
