Things You'll Need:
- Tape measure
- Outdoor drapes
- Outdoor curtain rod
- Pencil
- Drill
-
Step 1
Determine the length necessary for your drapes. Run your tape measure from the ground to your patio roof. Because you don't want your outdoor drapes to drag on the ground, subtract 4 to 6 inches from that number to get your total. Determine the width of your outdoor drapes by running the tape measure from edge to edge horizontally on your patio.
-
Step 2
Buy outdoor drapes for the best result. Waterproof curtains are recommended if your outdoor living space is exposed to varying weather, such as rain, snow or ice.
-
Step 3
Mark your patio support column where you will hang your outdoor curtain rod. Measure where your markings fall in relation to the roof, then use those measurements to mark the next support column. When you make accurate markings, it helps ensure your outdoor drapes hang evenly.
-
Step 4
Secure your outdoor curtain rod to the support column by drilling screws through the curtain rod mount and into the support column. Use the markings you made on both patio support columns as a guide.
-
Step 5
Slide your curtains onto the curtain rod.
-
Step 6
Hang your outdoor drapes, one side at a time, on your curtain rod.
