Step 1
Want to save at places like Nordstroms, JC Penny, Barnes and Noble, Sears and Macys? Try Ebates (see resources for a link). This site's been going for 10 years and has an excellent reputation for paying rebates on time. With some less known retailers discounts can be as much as 20 per cent, but with the big names you're looking at regular savings of up to 5 per cent.
-
Step 2
Pricegrabber is a comparison shopping site with a difference. Not only does it allow you to research prices to find the lowest - you can also add your own or read others' reviews of products to choose the best products.
-
Step 3
Mr Rebates has rebates on offer of up to 30 per cent. Stores listed there include Brookstone, Brio, Crabtree & Evelyn, Eddie Bauer and Starbucks. Some do have restrictions and while most are based on a percentage of the sale, some are a fixed amount (e.g. $6.00).
-
Step 4
Spree can cut your costs with cash back shopping rebates stretching up to 25%. Checks are sent monthly once you reach $25 in your account for US residents. Non-residents will have to increase their balance to $100. Shops where you can save money include Walgreens, Wal-mart and Home Depot, so it's definitely worth signing up and seeing how much you could save.
-
Step 5
It's always worth checking directly with your seller to see if any products - particularly electrical items - come with rebates. For example, type rebate in the electrical products search box and you'll turn up dozens of products which come with a mail-in rebates.
-
Step 6
RiteAid and Walgreens each have rebates clubs which could trim your costs on health and beauty products. See link below to find out more.
