Step 1
Choose grilled, steamed, or broiled entrees over anything that is fried. Remember that chicken, turkey, and fish are leaner than ground beef.
-
Step 2
Say no to any special sauces, mayonnaise, cheese or bacon on your fast food. They will only dramatically increase your calorie intake for the meal. They also contain a lot of cholesterol which is bad for your heart.
-
Step 3
Pick a salad but do so carefully. Some people think that salads are a healthy fast food option but there are some varieties that are worse than the hamburgers or fried chicken. Opt for a salad that has leafy greens, vegetables, fruits and beans and stay away from cheese, creamy dressings, bacon pieces, and fried tortilla shells.
-
Step 4
Oder a kid's meal instead of a normal combo meal. Never ever supersize your order. If you don't think that a kid's meal will fill you up, then add a side salad, following the above step, to your meal.
-
Step 5
Drink water, skim milk or unsweetened iced tea instead of sugary soda. This will save you a lot of wasted calories.
-
Step 6
Expand your definition of fast food options. Healthy fast food can also be sub sandwiches or wraps with lean meat and vegetables, burritos or chicken tacos with no cheese or sour cream, a Greek kabob, or even sushi.
