Everyone wants strong nails, since strong nails will be less likely to break, resulting in long beautiful fingernails. However, everyone's nails are different. Some people are born with naturally strong nails, while others aren't. If you find that you're nails constantly break or feel brittle, read on to discover how to strengthen them.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nail hardener
  • Latex gloves
  • Cuticle oil (Flax seed oil, Vitamin E, Almond oil, Jojoba oil, or Olive oil)
  • Calcium tablets or milk
  1. Step 1
Use latex gloves for strong nails

Use latex gloves for strong nails

Wear latex gloves so your nails don't become weak and break from water and harsh chemicals when you're washing the dishes or cleaning the floor. If gloves are unavailable, limit the amount of time your nails spend in water and dry them immediately afterward for strong nails. This will reduce the risk of nail breakage. You can find latex gloves in the Resources section.

  2. Step 2
    Don't bite your nails

Don't bite or put your nails in your mouth in order to get strong nails. The nail biting habit is a horrible habit to get into, for your health and the well being of your nails. Check out the Related Articles section if you need help with how to stop nail biting.

  3. Step 3
    Don't use artificial nails

Refrain from getting artificial nails if you want to strengthen nails. Artificial nails are very damaging and can cause you infections, while weakening your nails. Instead, grow out your fingernails. Discover how to grow long nails in the Related Articles section as well.

  4. Step 4
Use nail oil for strong nails

Use nail oil for strong nails

Rub nail or cuticle oil on your cuticles before bed each night for strong nails, so that your cuticle bed absorbs the nutrients and stays healthy. Popular cuticle oils are flax seed oil, vitamin E, almond oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil. Whichever oil you choose, it will both make your nails grow longer and strengthen your nails. Creative Nail Solar Oil (found in the Resources section) is another popular nail oil, with great reviews, that strengthens nails. 5. Step 5
    Use a nail hardener

    Use a nail hardener

Apply a nail hardener twice daily to promote strong nails. On the seventh day, wash the nail hardener off of your nails and then apply the nail harder twice daily again. Repeat this process each week if you wish. MAVALA (in the Resources section) is one of the several nail hardeners many people use.

  6. Step 6
    Drink milk

    Drink milk

Have at least one glass of milk or a calcium tablet daily. Calcium is great for growing strong nails. Slow-mag tablets (Resources section) is a popular calcium tablet brand. You can also opt to have a multivitamin instead of milk.
