How to make semi-homemade split pea soup.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Making semi-homemade split pea soup is simple, inexpensive and absolutely delicious. You will need 1 bag of uncooked peas, 1 package of diced smokes ham pieces, ½ cup white wine, ½ cup olive oil, 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 1 bay leaf, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon black pepper, 1 cup of diced carrots, 1 diced Spanish onion.

  2. Step 2

    In large stewing pot, place beans with about 4 cups of water, carrots, onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, olive oil and butter. Cover with lid and place stove on simmer for about 3 hours. Make sure you periodically stir to avoid any sticking or burning.

  3. Step 3

    Next, after about 3 hours of cooking add ham pieces, garlic powder and bay leaf. Keep covered and cook for an additional hour and a half. Total cooking time is approximately 4 and ½ hours. Soup will be thick so you may add water an s a thinning agent. You may also add a can of chicken broth for extra taste.

  4. Step 4

    Split pea is inexpensive to make and it is delicious. You can also freeze soup for up to 3 months. Enjoy!!
