Things You'll Need:
- 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
- 3/4 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 2 cloves of crushed garlic
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
- 2 (6.5 ounce) cans of tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsps basil leaves
- 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground pepper
- 4 tbsp chopped parsley
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 pound sliced mozzarella cheese
- 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
-
Step 1
The first thing you want to do is cook your meats until they are browned. Cook the Italian sausage and ground beef with your minced onion and crushed garlic. After it is well cooked to your desire, stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Then season it with the sugar, basil leaves, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for a good hour and a half. Be sure to stir it occasionally.

Step 2
Now it's time to cook your noodles. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Once the water has reached a constant boil, set the noodles in it to cook for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove them from the stove and drain them.

Step 3
Grab a mixing bowl and pour in the ricotta cheese, a beaten egg, any remaining parsley, and 1/2 tsp of salt. Mix all of those ingredients very well.
-
Step 4
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit before assembling your lasagna. Grab a large pan that is about 10 inches wide and 14 inches long. Spread 1 1/2 cups of your meat mixture on the bottom then cover it with about 6 of your cooked noodles. Then spread out 1/2 of your ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles following with 1/3 of a spread of the mozzarella cheese slices. Then pour in another 1 1/2 cups of your meat sauce again over the mozzarella cheese layer. The last layer is made by sprinkling on parmesan cheese. Repeat these layers until you've used up all of your ingredients. After you have, cover it up with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes. Be sure to let it cool at least 10 minutes before serving.
