Part of being a Daisy Girl Scout leader is teaching the girls to be responsible. The girls need to know what they have to do at each meeting, and they also need to learn about having responsibilities at home. The following is an easy and inexpensive craft to do with your kindergarten and first grade girls so they can earn the orange petal.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • one piece of construction paper for each girl, the same color
  • pencils
  • markers or crayons
  • extra helpers
  1. Step 1

At the beginning of your meeting, as the girls what the word "responsibility" means. Ask them what they are responsbile for at their Daisy meetings. Then ask them what chores they are responsible for at home, and what happens if the job does not get done. Tell the girls that they are going to make helper charts for their homes.

  2. Step 2

Hand out construction paper that you have prepped for them. At the top, write "_________________'s Helper Chart". The girls will fill in their name on the blank. Also, have drawn out five lines on the right side for the chores the girls will list that they are responsible for at home. Number them for the girls.

  3. Step 3

In pencil, have the girls trace one hand. They can decorate the hand with markers.

  4. Step 4

Ask the girls what they want to have on their chart. These will be chores they are or will be responsible for. The helpers will write for the girls.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can ask an older Junior Girl Scout troop to be the writers. If one is not available, ask for parent volunteers.
