Things You'll Need:
- Good dog toy
-
Step 1
Find a good toy that your dog is excited to play with. Some of the best dog toys include; rubber animals, stuffed animals, tug-of-war toys, and my personal favorite, the ball on a cord.
-
Step 2
Keep the toy exclusive. Your dog gets tired of toys for the same reasons children do. They get tired of playing with the same thing because it's always around. If the toy is available for your dog to play with whenever he or she wants, they will soon lose interest. Keeping the toy hidden and only bringing it out for short periods of time will keep it new and interesting. Once the fun is over, put the toy away until next time.
-
Step 3
Associate the toy with a specific audio sign. A word or sound that is only mentioned when it's time to play with the toy will add to the excitement of the toy.
-
Step 4
Don't wear your dog out. Although dogs seem to have unlimited energy, they do get tired. Always put the toy away before your dog is physically worn out with the toy.
