"Trick or Treat"

Few more days and its Halloween! For sure kids are already getting excited on wearing their Halloween custom for trick or treating the neighborhood and on what would they get to fill their bags.. lots of candies?

Here's some tips on how to keep your child safe on their trick-or-treating night.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Eat dinner first before leaving the house. Your child might be pretty excited for those sweet treats that he/she's going to get and might not think about eating dinner. Kids who goes trick-or-treating with an empty empty stomach would be likely to eat more amount of candies and chocolates on their "round the neighborhood" trip.

  2. Step 2

Go with your kids. You would feel more at ease about your kids safety if you are with them. Either you or your husband go with your children if it doesn't fit your busy schedule or assign a trusted adult to go with them. Don't just let your kids go trick or treating with their friends, nor let your older kid or teen go look after the younger ones.

  3. Step 3

Tell your kids it is not a wise idea to accept strangers invitation to enter their houses. Small children tends to be more trusting and still wasn't fully capable of judging a "predators invitation."

  4. Step 4

Be aware of the neighborhood you are planning to visit for your kids trick-or-treat trip. Are there any gangs hanging out on specific streets? Any sex offender residing on that area? It is always a wise move to research, and get to know the town or neighborhood where your children would be trick or treating. You may also consider visiting the nearby town instead or somewhere you know that is safe.

  5. Step 5

Focus on your kids and not on your cellphone. Doing two tasks at a time would only divide your attention. Make a call before leaving the house if you had to make that call or after you got back home.

  6. Step 6

Go with your child on every house's front door and don't just wait for your kid on the side street. In case something happens that needs your immediate attention it would be easier and quicker for you to take action.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bring sweaters and bottled water. Your kids (or you) might not be feeling cold or thirsty when you leave the house but they might need it for a later time.
