Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  • Computer
  • E-mail address
  1. Step 1

The hardest part is finding legitimate online research companies to sign up with. I searched for months and signed up with some bad sites and companies before I found the sites I liked. Stay at home Mom blogs and Forums were where I found most of mine. I wrote a blog for friends and family for some of the sites I like. if your interested you can check my profile for the link.

  2. Step 2

Get a new E-mail address, you will be signing up for multiple survey sites if you want to make any real money. It helps to keep your personal E-mail separate from your Survey E-mails.

  3. Step 3

Fill out the profiles when you sign up, that is where they find the demographic that they pick from when they send the surveys out. Filling these out will get you a lot more surveys then if you were to just sign up and wait for them to start coming in.

  4. Step 4

Be patient some of the best companies only send out 4-5 a month, they normally pay higher and a lot of them send out product tests. You are not going to qualify for every survey sent to you, when I first started I only qualified for 25-30% of them. Now I actually read the E-mails, most of the time they specify what the survey is for. If the survey is for a new alcoholic beverage and you don't drink, your probably not going to qualify.

  5. Step 5

Now the fun part. Getting paid, all of the legitimate site will post in their E-mails the amount you earn and the average length of time it takes to complete a survey. Most pay $2-5 dollars for a 15-20 minute survey. Sure your not going to get rich but I'm up to about $20 a day and it adds up fast. Most of the surveys pay out by check or paypal. If you don't have paypal its free to sign up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't speed through the surveys. They have built in checks, they will ask the same question in a different way or throw in a trick question to see if your really paying attention.
  • Sign up for as many as you can but beware of any survey site that promises the world, but you can make $10-15 an hour once you get rolling.
  • Never pay to sign up for survey sites, or for a list of survey sites. I have been doing them for years and I have never paid a dime.
  • Never give out any info you are uncomfortable giving out. They will need your address to send checks and a lot of them ask for your home number too. But if they start asking for your bank info or any other info you are uncomfortable with don't do it.
  • Happy surveying And I hope the checks start rolling in.

on 12/6/2009 From my experience, the only site that pays good is SurveySavvy. The best thing is they are part of the Better Busines Bureau. It's a secure, safe site that pays you with a check! https://www.surveysavvy.com?id=3699959&action=join

on 10/26/2009 I'm going to look into this--almost everyone needs extra cash, especially these days. Glad to know that there are legitimate sites. To get a separate e-mail address dedicated to surveys is an excellent idea. Thanks.
