The H1N1 vaccine is available in most states and county health departments. For those in the targeted risk group should consider being vaccinated as soon as possible.
According to the CDC, there will be enough 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine for anyone who chooses to get vaccinated. The US federal government has on hand and has obtained 250 million doses of 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine. The National Institute of Health clinical trial data states that children from 6 months to 9 years of age will need to get two doses of the vaccine and those who are 10 years and older will need only one doses of the N1H vaccine. A limited amount of 2009 H1N1 vaccine will become available in October, with more becoming available throughout October, 2009.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Targeted groups of people who should get the vaccine are pregnant women, children 6 months of age and younger, healthcare and those in the emergency medical services, those who are between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old, and those who are 25 to 64 years of age with chronic health disorders or with compromised immune systems.

  2. Step 2

For those with egg allergies should consult a physician before receiving the H1N1 vaccine. Person who have had allergic reactions to any flu vaccines should also consult a physician or medical professional before being vaccinated.

  3. Step 3

Those who were vaccinated for the swine flu in 1976 should consider getting vaccinated with the 2009 H1N1 vaccine because the two virus’s are very different and it is unlikely that a person who was vaccinated in 1976 will be protected fully against the 2009 H1N1 virus.
