Utilize these money-saving tips and methods to reduce monthly expenses so you are left with more money in the bank at the end of each month.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Renegotiate your monthly rent. Experts say that now is the time to renegotiate your lease with your landlord. Do you homework and find out what other similar apartments are going for in your area. You can ask for rental recessions if you find a similar apartment for less. Also, find out about rental recessions for paying your rent early or before the 1st of each month. Many landlords or management companies will slash your rent if you pay earlier. You can also participate in lease reference programs. Refer a friend or family member to sign a lease in your building and your landlord may reduce your rent.

  2. Step 2

Save money on salon and spa services by taking advantage of referral programs. Many salons will give you free or discounted services if you refer a friend. Inquire about normal pricing and then ask if you can get a discount if you bring along a spouse, family member or friend. You may be able to receive two spa treatments for the price of one.

  3. Step 3

When booking airline tickets, purchase your tickets on Tuesday mornings. Tickets will be cheaper on Tuesdays because new weekly prices come out each Monday and competitors will offer the competitive prices the next day. So, book on Tuesdays and save lots of money on airfare.

  4. Step 4

To save money in restaurants, try ordering appetizer sized portions instead of full sized meals. This will shave money off the bill and shave money off your waistline. To save even more money, utilize websites like restaurant.com where you can buy and print coupons that can take up to 80% off your next restaurant meal.

  5. Step 5

Make your own coffee at home instead of purchasing fancy coffee from gourmet coffee shops. You can use the money you save towards an end of the year vacation or apply towards your monthly bottom line.
