Prevent Germs from Spreading Through Dishes

Germs and dishes can be partners in the dirty little game of spreading disease. When someone in home comes down sick, killing the germs that linger on dishes becomes the front line of the battle. It isn't easy, but if done correctly the battle can be won.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step is easy for those with a dish washer; washing the dishes in super hot water. Germs hate heat and most will be killed off by extremely hot water. A dishwasher provides exactly this, but without one this process requires another step. Boiling water. Pour boiling water over the dishes to kill the germs.

  2. Step 2

Designate a cup for each person in the house. If anyone uses their own cup, the germs cannot be passed along. This will make it easy to kill of the germs, by washing the cups separate of each other.

  3. Step 3

Keep the germs from ever getting on the dishes. Use a straw for the sick person to drink from and paper or plastic eating utensils and plates. This will allow for simply tossing away the products after use.

  4. Step 4

Change the wash cloth often and sanitize the sink. Both will keep germs from jumping back on the dishes and spreading to humans.
