Step 1
Avoid Sick People
Avoiding sick people means observing those around you. Watch for people who are coughing or sneezing and stay away from them. If a friend is sick, send cards or call them but stay away from them until they recover. While walking in crowds avoid hand touching or speaking face to face. Flu season is a good time to guard your 3 feet of personal space. If you cannot avoid sick people because you work in a hospital or other patient-care facility then use posted sanitary precautions. -

Prevent the spread of germs
You and those you live with can prevent the spread of germs by covering mouth and nose with tissues when sneezing or coughing. After sneezing or coughing wash hands. Keep your fingers and hands away from your mouth and nose. It is important to NOT share eating utensils such as dishes, silverware, cups and glasses. Wash all eating dishes and food preparation dishes, silverware, cups and glasses in hot water and dish soap. The use of an automatic dishwasher will be best during flu season because of the hot temperature and length of time the cleaning cycle is operated. The most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of the flu is to wash your hands before eating. -

Wash Hands
The single most important step we can all take to avoid the spread of the flu virus is to wash hands frequently. It is important to wash your hands BEFORE eating anything. Wash your hands after coughing or sneezing. Wash your hands when entering your home, office or school. Wash your hands after using the restroom. Wash your hands after being in contact with anyone who is ill. Wash your hands before coming into contact with a baby 6-months of age or younger.
