How to Build a Yugioh Dueling Deck
In Yu-Gi-Oh! there is only one road to victory: total defeat of your opponent. The Yu-Gi-Oh! card game encourages players to create their own customized decks in order to wipe out their opponents. Through a combination of creatures, spells and traps, you can counter every move your opponent throws at you while consistently taking away his hit points. Creating a killer Yu-Gi-Oh! deck is best done with a large set of cards that are then refined into a lean and powerful deck for battle.
Instructions

-
1
Purchase both booster packs and starter decks of cards to increase the pool of available cards to choose from when creating your deck.
-
2
Choose 20 creatures for your deck. Start with creatures that have four stars in their rating or higher. These are the most powerful creatures in the game and will defeat most weaker creatures. Stick with creatures with an attack rating between 1500 and 2000.
-
-
3
Narrow down your creatures to those that feature bonuses beyond a high attack power. For example, choose D. D. Assailant, who responds to defeat by permanently removing his attacker from the game.
-
4
Pepper the deck with up to 10 spell cards that result in adding extra cards to your hand or removing them from your opponent's hand. The Pot of Greed will give you two additional cards, while the Delinquent Duo forces your opponent to discard two cards.
-
5
Create combinations with your spell and creature cards. Use the Axe of Despair to boost your Sangan's 1000 attack rating to 2000. When Sangan is sent to the graveyard, choose a monster from your deck to draw into your hand. Use another creature as tribute and return the Axe of Despair to your hand. You now have an ideal monster and spell combination to play on your next turn.
-
6
Round out your deck with 10 trap cards, which will keep your opponent on the defensive as you build your own army of creatures. For example, use the Dust Tornado to remove his spell or trap card while you are able to place your own.
-
7
Whittle your choices down so that your deck consists of no more than 40 cards. Keeping a low card count will boost the probability of drawing the cards needed for your combos. You can draw a Jester Lord faster from a deck of 40 cards than a deck of 70 cards.

Tips & Warnings
Use a Yu-Gi-Oh! card database to create a list of cards you want to obtain. Seek these out from friends or at trading card conventions. Vary your deck. Don't rely on only one combination of cards or one specific creature. A well-rounded deck can adapt to multiple situations.
