How to Loop Braid With Plastic String

Braiding crafts are common crafts among young children and at camps. There are many different forms of braid you can create with plastic string, called Rexlace. One type of braid which creates an angular, arrow-like design, is loop braiding. Loop braiding is one of the simplest types of braid. It is great for teaching to beginners because it requires only two basic steps after initial preparation.

Things You'll Need

• Plastic string
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Cut five long pieces of string. Try experimenting with different color combinations.

2. Bend the pieces of string in half and tie the 10 ends together in a knot, so you are left with five loops hanging down.

3. Grab the center loop and pass it through the two loops to its right and pull tight.

4. Grab the new center loop and pass it through the two loops to its left and pull tight.

5. Repeat until your braid reaches the desired length.

Tips & Warnings

• You can create lots of accessories out of the braid once completed. Slide a key loop through the five ending loops to create a keychain, or tie the 10 loose ends after the knot around the five loops to close off the braid in a bracelet.
