How to Fix an Xbox Hard Drive
The popularity of the Xbox 360 has caused many users to modify the hard drive so it can do things not sanctioned by Microsoft. This modification can cause the hard drive to function erratically. Repairing the hard drive requires returning it to its original state and will save an expensive repair from a service center. The procedure requires the use of a Windows-based computer and will get you back to using the game console and hard drive without any concerns within an hour or two.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure that the firmware has completely transferred over to the USB thumb drive before it is removed from the computer, as a partial transfer will not work properly.
Repairing the Xbox hard drive voids the warranty. This could result in Microsoft or an authorized dealer refusing to do a repair on the console should they find out, even if what needs to be done has nothing to do with the hard drive.
