Wash and dry carefully. Most satin bedding comes with product-specific washing instructions on the tag, but in general, wash satin bedding by hand or in the gentle cycle in cold water with a gentle detergent like Woolite. Shake the bedding to remove excess moisture (do not wring), and dry on a line out of direct sunlight or roll in towels to absorb moisture. Treat stains with cold water and/or detergent immediately. Dry clean extremely fragile satin bedding, such as that made primarily of silk.

Avoid damage through daily use. Satin is fragile and is easily snagged or torn. Never wear clothing with any type of metal adornments, zippers or hooks, as these can snag or mar the fabric. Even a jagged toenail can tear delicate satin bedding. Try to rotate your sheets each time you use them to encourage more even wear. If your satin bedding is wrinkled, iron on low heat, using a press cloth to protect the fabric.

Store satin bedding properly. Do not expose satin sheets to direct heat, particularly if they are made of synthetic material. Sunlight will cause the color to fade, so store it in a dark place. Satin sheets made of natural materials are susceptible to damage from insects, so store them in airtight containers.
