How to Find a Hole in an Aboveground Pool

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the liner while standing outside the pool where the ground is wet. Aboveground pool liners are known for leaking around the seams. If you can't see the leak this way, move to Step 2.

    • 2

Jump in the pool while wearing goggles and search the liner underwater. Look for areas with tiny air bubbles. If you see air bubbles, rub them away with your hand to determine whether the liner has a hole. If it does, the bubbles will come back quickly. If you are not sure this is the leak, continue to Step 3.

    • 3

Use food coloring or pool water dye to confirm whether you have found a leak. Place the food coloring or dye in an eyedropper and squirt it in front of the suspected leak. If this is the leak, it will suck in the dye and the dye will disappear from the water.
