1
Cut two seashell shapes out of the peach fabric. Use the fabric paint and paintbrushes to paint lines on the seashells. When the shells are dry, use double-sided tape to adhere them to the bodysuit. The seashells will cover the chest area on the bodysuit.

2
Use the craft paper and pencil to draw the mermaid tail. Measure your child to make sure that the pattern will cover her legs. Use this pattern to cut out two matching tail shapes out of the fabric.

3
Sew the two tail pieces together. Leave two small holes at the bottom of the tail for her feet to slide through. The fish scale fabric should be inside out. Once you sew the fabric together, turn the fabric right side out.
-
4
Sew a hem at the top of the tale. Thread a piece of ribbon through the top of the hem. This will serve as a drawstring. Stuff the tail with nylon stuffing.

5
Dress your child in the white bodysuit and mermaid tail.

Tips & Warnings
You can use blue, green or teal fabric instead of using a "fish-scale" fabric. For an added accessory, choose beaded shoes for her to wear with her costume and dress-up jewelry.
