Customizing and designing your own shoes is a neat way to add some personalization to an otherwise fairly standardized item. New technology has opened up more options for customizing and designing your own shoes online, allowing the customer to select colors, words, patterns and designs that will be created in the factory and shipped directly to the customer within as little as a few days.

Customize Shoes You Own with Charms & Laces

Select and purchase charms to add to your shoes. Select one to three charms for the front and center of your shoe.

Purchase shoelaces in a new color or with a pattern to customize your shoes and give them a fresh new look and focal point.

Slide the charms to the middle of the new laces. Now lace up your shoes with the charms hanging front and center.

Decide what kind of shoes you want to design. They may be sneakers, moccasins or kids shoes.

Open the appropriate website to begin the application to start designing your own pair of shoes. Use the Nike, Keds or Zazzle site to design sneakers and Soft Star Shoes for moccasins and a variety of kids' shoes. See the References and Resources sections for links.

Follow the on-screen directions and prompts to select the colors and patterns desired for your shoes.

Upload an image of your patterns or colors if needed (only certain sites have this option).

Finalize your custom shoe designs. Enter the payment method and shipping address and order your own designed and customized shoes.

Tips & Warnings
Beads can be substituted for charms. Charms can also be sewn or clipped on as an alternative to including them in the laces.
