How to Use Parchment Paper for Baking

Parchment paper is paper that has been coated with silicone. The silicone is safe to use in the heat of an oven. It works to keep food from sticking to its surface. Even nonstick baking sheets wear over time and begin to let your cookies stick to them. Another great thing about parchment paper is that each sheet can be used multiple times.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Purchase a roll of parchment paper and cut a piece for your counter. Roll your dough out on the parchment paper to make clean up a cinch. The dough will not stick to the parchment paper and, as a result, will be easier to work with.

  2. Step 2

Use cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the dough. The parchment paper will protect your counters from the edges of the cookie cutters.

  3. Step 3

Lay a sheet of parchment paper on your baking sheet. Set your cookies directly on the parchment paper, and bake them in the oven. The parchment paper is safe to use up to 425 degrees F.

  4. Step 4

Remove your cookies with a spatula and place a new batch of dough on the same parchment paper. Bake the next batch.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the parchment paper to line bread pans, cake pans, roasting pans and even casserole dishes.
