This fabulous apple walnut cake is very easy to make, and is perfect for autumn entertaining. It requires no peeling, no mixer, and no pan prep!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 13"x 9" baking dish
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 can apple pie filling
  • 1 cup chopped toasted walnuts, divided
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
  1. Step 1

    In a large bowl whisk eggs, oil, and sugar until well blended.

  2. Step 2

    In a separate dish or piece of waxed paper, mix flour, salt, and soda til well blended.

  3. Step 3

    Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients, then mix well with a spoon.

  4. Step 4

    Gently fold in apple filling and 2/3 cups walnuts. Spread into baking dish.

  5. Step 5

    Bake in oven preheated to 325 degrees F. for 35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes in the cake 1" apart.

  7. Step 7

    For glaze: Combine 1 cup sugar and one cup sour cream and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. Cook on medium heat, while stirring, until it just begins to boil. Remove from heat.

  8. Step 8

    Evenly spread glaze on cake, then sprinkle on 1/3 cup toasted chopped walnuts.

Tips & Warnings
  • Delicious warm, cool, or at room temp.
  • Takes less than 10 minutes to prepare.
