Being the “other woman” is a negative label in our society for it implies the woman involved with the married man is fully responsible for the relationship, even if most of the moves have been made on the man's part. What is even worse is the fact that married men who pick up women at work, bars, or other places do not even tell other women they are married and have children at home. But there is an easy solution to keep from becoming the “other woman” whenever a man tries to put the moves on you:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A healthy sense of self, with a tempered ego
  1. Step 1

At work, tell him that you are already married. You do not have to tell him every detail about your relationship with your husband, but a mere mention of him each time the guy tries to be smooth with you will have him stop and think.

  2. Step 2

Ask him why he thinks you are so “fabulous.” As a rule, married men know how to sweet talk to other women but never to their wives (it's one of those big mysteries of life.) He'll ponder for awhile and may not even have an immediate answer, but it gives you enough time to resume your regular work tasks.

  3. Step 3

Appearances count. One thing you never want to do is to be alone with the man anywhere in a public place. You never know who could be nearby: a friend of his wife's, a friend of yours, or anyone else who could talk about the affair. Of course, it is in your power to not be in such places, and the easiest way to do that is to politely decline any requests from the man who asks you out for an after work hours drink, or a workout at the gym, or anywhere else where there are other people. He may say no at first, but remind him that your husband is at home waiting for you.

  4. Step 4

Restrain your ego. There are a surprising number of women who fall for sweet talk from a man. If you are lucky and are not that type, it will not be hard for you to rebuff his advances. Simply tell him, “My husband thinks I'm gorgeous too,” smile, and walk back to your desk to finish that special project for your boss.
