How to Play Evony

Evony is an increasingly popular RTS game that anyone can play for free. While the game is fairly easy to play it is not always the simplest game to understand as a new player. The point of this game is to build a large town and army that enables you to attack rival players and successfully fend off incoming attacks. While no one exactly wins in this game it is highly entertaining and addicting once you really get rolling.

Please note that in this guide it will be assumed that you have already created an account, chosen your location and have a city established. For this reason these topics will not be covered.

Instructions

1. Finish your quests. Quests will be found flashing at the bottom of the screen. Each quest guides you and helps you to learn the game's basics. If confused on what to do simply read the quest details for help. To get an advantage in the game accomplish quests offering rewards of resources first. This will help you to continuously build.

2. Set your self up for success by building only one warehouse, no more than ten cottages and at least twelve barracks. Also, minimize the number of resource fields you use to build stone. While stone is important in the beginning it becomes useless further along. Try to upgrade the items in your town rather than building more.

3. Build and upgrade an academy and start researching your technologies. Informatics and any research that will add to your armies strength or health are all good technologies to research quickly.

4. Establish a strong rally spot, and feasting hall. Employ high level attack heroes and one or two high level intelligence heroes. Heroes are used to send attacks. For every attack you want to send at a time you will need that level rally spot and that number of heroes in your feasting hall.

5. Begin building troops and wall defenses. Troops are built through your barracks and wall defenses are built by clicking your walls. Aim to create predominately archers, warriors, ballistas and archer's towers in the beginning. You can focus on diversifying later.

6. Do not upgrade your town hall to level five until your beginner's protection wears off. At that time start your attacks. Before sending an attack you will click on the map tab to take a peak at your neighbors. When you find a valley, NPC or town of interest send a scout their way to see what is in the walls and town. Sending a high intelligence hero will help get you better information. Once you get the information run an exercise in your rally spot to see if you would win the fight and send the appropriate amount of troops to start attacking.

7. Continue building and attacking to gain prestige quickly. Once you get a handle on these basic tasks you should find that the game becomes easier.

Tips & Warnings

• Join an alliance that claims to be beginner friendly. They can offer you a plethora of help.
• If you mess up your first town, as many people have, worry not. Simply join a new server and try again!
• There are no cheats so don't ask.
• If you are starting on a low number server expect to be wiped out quickly. Try starting on the highest numbered server for the best results. These are new servers full of people like you.
