You can put any of your DVDs on your iPod, and it's completely legal and free.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Mac
  • HandBrake
  • An iPod with video capability
  1. Step 1

Download HandBrake. It's free and it works fantastic. The link is in the resources.

  2. Step 2

Insert an awesome DVD like Muppets From Space into your computer. Close the DVD player if it opens and open HandBrake instead.

  3. Step 3

When HandBrake opens, it will ask for a DVD. Select it and click open. HandBrake will scan for the main part of the movie.

  4. Step 4

Click on the preset "Apple" and choose your iPod.

  5. Step 5

Adjust the quality to your liking (bigger file size comes with better quality) and check the "2-pass encoding" and "Turbo first pass" boxes. Change the name and location of the file if you'd like.

  6. Step 6

Press start. It could three or more hours depending on how fast your computer is and how long the movie is.

  7. Step 7

Open iTunes. Click File > Add to Library and navigate to where you saved the movie. With your iPod connected, click on it and navigate to the Movies tab. Make sure the movie you just saved is checked to be synced, then sync up!

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep the bitrate to atleast 400.
  • iTunes often copies the movie to its own folder, so you can remove the old file to save space.
