Step 1
Contribute to article directories. There are many to choose from, and one of the most popular is Ezine. One of the reasons this is a popular choice is the fact that you are currently allowed to place two self-serving backlinks in each of the articles you submit to Ezine, one in the body of the article, and one in your signature. Buzzle.com is another popular article directory, and many people have had a great deal of success using Squidoo to build backlinks to their webpages.

Step 2
Contribute to related forums. If you’ve written an eHow article on changing the differential oil in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport, become a member of one or two of the many Jeep related forums on the Internet. Most forums will allow you to place a link in your signature; reading the Terms of Service for each forum before posting for the first time will keep you out of trouble while you are building backlinks.

Step 3
Check your work. An easy, free tool to keep in your arsenal is backlinkwatch.com. Copy and paste the url of the webpage you are trying to promote into the search bar, and within moments you’ll be able to see every site that has a backlink pointing to your page.
