How to Program a Keyless Remote for a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country Minivan


When you add a remote fob for your 2002 Town & Country or replace the battery in an existing one, you will need to reprogram it to the vehicle. The procedure requires a working remote to complete.

Things You'll Need

  • New keyless remote for a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan
  • Working keyless remote for the same van
  • Take both keyless remotes and sit in the driver's seat of the Chrysler Town & Country minivan.

  • On the new remote, press the lock button five times in intervals of two seconds.

  • Insert the key to the ignition and turn the key to the last position before the cranking point (this is the Run position).

  • Wait for the ignition chimes to cease. Then press and hold the Unlock button on the working remote for four to 10 seconds. While you are holding the Unlock button, press the Panic button on the same remote for one second and then release both buttons. You should hear a chime that indicates the vehicle is in remote programming mode.

  • Within 30 seconds of the chime, simultaneously

  • Press and release both the Lock and Unlock buttons on the new remote, then press and release just Unlock button. A chime will sound, indicating that the new remote has been programmed.
    Turn the key off.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not have a working keyless entry remote you need to visit your local Chrylser dealership or a locksmith to program your new keyless entry remote.
