How to Apply Fake Eyelashes Easily
If you want to make your eyes "pop" for a big night out, apply false eyelashes — all you need is a steady hand and a few expert tips. Make sure you practice putting the lashes on a few days before you plan to wear them out on the town; the process can be a little tricky to perfect. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Small scissors
- Eyelash glue
- Mascara
- Eyelash curler
- Tweezers
- False eyelash strips
Instructions
-

1
Hold the false eyelashes up to your real lashes to measure for the best fit. Trim the lash strip to fit your eye, if necessary.
-
2
Apply a coat of mascara to your natural lashes, then curl them gently.
-

3
Cut each lash strip in half. Applying the lashes in two shorter strips on each eye is much easier than laying down one long strip perfectly on each eye. Trim the false eyelashes to match your natural lashes, which tend to be longer toward the outer edge of your eye and shorter near your nose.
-
4
Place several dots of eyelash glue on the side of your hand near the base of your thumb (if you are right-handed, put the glue on your left hand). Holding one strip of false lashes with the tweezers, dip the lash strip into the glue. Collect a thin layer of glue along the entire strip. Wait about 10 seconds for the glue to become tacky.
-
5
Tilt your head back and close one eye. Starting at the outer corner of your eye and working toward your nose, place the false eyelash strip as close to your natural lash line as possible with the tweezers. Hold the fake lashes in place for 10 seconds.
-
6
Apply the second half of the lash strip to the inner part of your top lid in the same manner.
-
7
Repeat the process on your other eye. Allow the glue to dry for five minutes.
-
8
Apply a coat of mascara and curl the lashes again, if desired.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid mascaras that claim to be "thickening;" these can cause false lashes to clump together.
Remove the false eyelashes carefully to avoid tearing out your natural lashes. Wet a cotton ball with baby oil or oil-based makeup remover and wipe it over your eyelids. Pull the lashes gently off from the inside of your eye out.
