Everyone loves hot mulled cider, but mulling spices are expensive and hard to find. Here's a really easy way to make delicious mulled cider using chai tea bags and an orange.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An orange
  • Chai Tea Bags
  • Cider
  • A pot
  • A coffee filter
  • Some string
  1. Step 1

First, make sure that your chai tea bags contain the right spices. They should have allspice, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg (and can have other things as well).

  2. Step 2

Next, you will need to zest your orange. Put the zest in the coffee filter.

  3. Step 3

Put the tea bags in the coffee filter with the zest. You should use 1 orange & 2 tea bags per half gallon of cider.

  4. Step 4

Tie the coffee filter around the tea bags and zest using the string like a little bag.

  5. Step 5

Pour the cider into a pot. Bring the cider to a simmer.

  6. Step 6

Drop the spice bag in simmering cider. Let them simmer together for at least half an hour, or more if you want a stronger flavor.

  7. Step 7

After it has reached the desired flavor, remove the spice bag and serve the cider. You can leave the pot of cider (without the spice bag) on the stove on low heat to keep it warm.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve this drink with Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner
  • You can add a little bit of whisky to make hard mulled cider.
  • If you leave the cider on the stove, make sure that it doesn't boil away.
