      Turn off the air conditioner, then unplug it from the power.

      Open up the filter and remove it. You should have direct access to the frozen part of the air conditioner.

      Place a towel against the frozen part of the air conditioner, then leave it be. Return in an hour or so when the ice has melted.

      Clean up any remaining moisture with the additional towel.

      Close the filter back up and plug the AC back in.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider keeping the AC at "low cool" or just using the vent only until you know that the temperature is hotter then the circumstances that caused the AC to freeze in the first place. You might also want to clean out the filter using a vacuum cleaner as well.
