How to Brown Bacon in the Microwave
Unlike many meats, bacon will brown when cooked in the microwave oven. Cooking times for bacon vary depending on the thickness of the slices and the power of the microwave oven. The average cooking time for raw bacon is one minute per slice. If you are cooking two slices, microwave them for two minutes. If you are cooking 10 slices, microwave them for 10 minutes, for example. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Cover the bottom of a microwave-safe plate with paper towels.
-
2
Lay the bacon strips on the paper towel, side by side. Do not overlap the edges or let the bacon ends hang over the edge of the plate, as this would splatter the interior of the microwave.
-
-
3
Cover the bacon with another paper towel. This is not mandatory, but it will help keep the inside of your microwave oven clean.
-
4
Cook the bacon on high. To brown bacon in the microwave oven, it must be cooked on high. If cooking one minute per slice does not cook the bacon adequately, cook for an additional few seconds until the bacon is crisp and completely cooked.
-
5
Remove the bacon from the microwave oven and pat off the excess bacon grease. If the bacon seems undercooked, repeat steps 1 to 3, using a clean plate and fresh paper towels. Microwave the bacon for only a few seconds at a time.

Tips & Warnings
Bacon will cook and brown without using the paper towels, but it will be greasier and messier. However, cooking without paper towels will help remove more of the fatty section as the bacon sits and cooks in the sizzling bacon grease. Brown bacon by first heating a microwave browning grill in the microwave, then add the bacon to the hot grill. Unfortunately, browning grills are difficult to find. Microwave trays are available that are designed for specifically cooking bacon. These do not need to be lined with paper towels. Reduce the minute-per-piece cooking time if the bacon is very thin. Add additional seconds if the bacon needs more cooking time.
Don't use thin paper towels or napkins as the paper will stick to the cooked bacon. Handle freshly microwave-cooked bacon with care, as the bacon grease is very hot.
