Once you've installed RealAudio software, just click a RealAudio file link to automatically open RealPlayer and play an audio clip, streaming audio or streaming video. With RealPlayer, you don't need to download a music or video clip on a Web site to play it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Go to the RealAudio Web site.
Step2
Follow the instructions to install the free, basic version of RealPlayer.
Step3
See the Related eHow "How to Find RealAudio Web Sites" to find sites with music excerpts, radio station broadcasts, Internet-only radio station broadcasts, and live Internet broadcasts.
Step4
Click on a link with the name of a song or streaming audio feed. RealPlayer can also play streaming video files.
Step5
Make sure your computer speakers are powered and system volume is not muted.
Step6
Set the volume by adjusting the fader in the RealAudio window and the volume control for your speakers.

Tips & Warnings

  • There's a "deluxe" version of RealPlayer that you have to pay for; there's also a free one. You might have to look around a little on the Real home page to find the free version (it might be called "basic"), but it's there.
  • To play a downloaded RealAudio file, just double-click on it.
  • After you install RealPlayer, double-click on the Real icon in your Windows 98 taskbar to access Internet radio stations and broadcasts without opening your Web browser.
  • Your computer must have a sound card or chip and speakers to play RealAudio files. If you don't have a sound card, you'll get a warning message when you try to install RealPlayer.
