These features offer a unique opportunity for the cook to watch his food as it cooks in the microwave, on the stove, or in the oven without lifting the lid for a peek. Instructions
-
-
1
Pour two and a half cups of water and two cups of uncooked white rice into a 2.5 quart Visions saucepan. Substituting a different rice variety will change the amount of water needed as well as the cook times.
-
2
Cook the rice for approximately 13 minutes in the microwave on high power and with the lid on. Stop the cooking early if all the water is absorbed by the rice or extend it a minute or two if you still see more than an inch of water at the bottom of the saucepan after 13 minutes.

3
Move the Visions saucepan to the stove top on medium low heat and stir with a wooden, nylon or silicone spoon as you melt in two tablespoons of salted butter. Scrape the edges and bottom of the pan to fully incorporate the butter for even browning.
-
4
Continue stirring as you mix in half a teaspoon of granulated garlic, one cup of fresh or thawed chopped broccoli and half to a full cup of shredded cheddar cheese. After these ingredients are evenly distributed, remove the saucepan from the heat.
-
5
Sprinkle a half a cup of panko-style breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup of finely grated Parmesan cheese and 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper evenly over the surface of your cheesy broccoli rice.
-
6
Place your saucepan in a preheated 350 degree oven uncovered for 8 to 12 minutes or until your top crust is toasted to a golden brown. This will also slightly brown the pieces of rice that come in contact with the sides and bottom of the saucepan for a nice chewy texture.
-
7
Carefully remove your Visions saucepan from the oven with heat resistant oven mitts and allow it to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Visions by Corning pots and pans make lovely service cookware, but always warn your guests when you place hot dishes on the table.
-
8
Store any leftovers inside the Visions saucepan by simply placing it covered in the refrigerator or freezer for up to a week. The specially treated glass can handle the low temperatures that keep foods fresh. This dish or several versions of it could be made in advance up to the oven stage, and then crusted and served fresh from the oven.
-
9
Reheat leftovers for a few minutes in the microwave in the same Visions saucepan in which they are stored. Taking advantage of Visions versatility in this way will save you time and reduce the number of dirty pans to clean.
