How to Change the Look of Cabinet Knobs

Changing the knobs on your existing cabinets is a simple yet dramatic way to improve the look of your cabinets. Cabinet knobs come in different colors, styles and sizes. You can be creative in choosing which type of cabinet knobs to replace your existing ones with.

Things You'll Need

• Screwdriver
• New knobs
• Screws

Instructions

1. Browse through the selection at your local hardware store. Most hardware stores or home-improvement stores carry a wide selection of knobs to choose from. If you want a completely different look, try a completely different color from your current knobs, while still coordinating with the color of your cabinets.

2. Remove the current knobs by unscrewing the knob counter-clockwise. A screwdriver is not needed at this point. Check the size of the screw from the old knob and the size of the hole of the new knob. If they are the same size, you do not need to replace the screws.

3. Install the new knobs by placing the knob on the front while holding on to the screw. Screw the knob on tightly. You may need a screwdriver to tighten the knob.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are not sure how to install the new knobs, consult with an employee at the hardware store for help.

• Do not force a new knob on an old screw if it does not fit properly. You could risk ruining the knob, the screw or both.
