How to Add Vinegar to Rinse Water
Vinegar is a handy item for the laundry room. Adding vinegar to the rinse water decreases lint on the clothes. It can also brighten your colored garments as well as remove stains and odors that linger after the wash cycle is complete. Vinegar in the rinse water will remove any residual urine odor and freshen your baby's diapers. Any type of vinegar can be used except cider vinegar, because it discolors fabrics. Open the washer lid when the washer finishes filling for the rinse cycle.

Add 1/2 cup vinegar to the rinse water.

Close the washer lid to allow the cycle to complete.

Tips & Warnings
If you miss the rinse cycle, turn the washer cycle knob to "Rinse," then restart the washer. Wait for the tub to fill, then add vinegar. If your washer has an automatic fabric softener dispenser, add the vinegar to the dispenser for release in the rinse cycle.
