Speak to your neighbors. Make sure that your neighbors understand that you object to having at cats in your yard. Ask the neighbors if they have cats or kittens. The best way to avoid cats and kittens in your yard is to prevent them from going there in the first place. Ask any neighbors to make sure they are not allowing their cats to be outdoor cats.

Make the yard unattractive to cats. Help cats learn to avoid your yard if possible. Spray items on the grass such as deer scent and dog poo if possible. Cats will smell these scents and learn to avoid your yard. Cats tend to be afraid of dogs and larger mammals such as deer.

Get rid of items that attract cats. Cats like to stalk smaller creatures such as birds and mice. Avoid attracting mice and birds into your yard. Avoid growing items that mice like to eat such as carrots and seeds. If you have a bird feeder get rid of it. A bird feeder attracts cats and they will stalk the birds.

  5. Step 5

Water the yard frequently. Cats dislike water very much. Help them avoid using your yard. Turn on the hose whenever you see a cat. Get the cat wet. The cat will learn to avoid your yard. Keep the grass well watered. Cats will avoid wet grass. Do not provide a path for them to dry their feet on top of or they will use it.
