Competition for modeling jobs is fierce. If you are lucky enough to land a photo shoot, you must be prepared for it. Unprepared models will not gain recognition or recommendations for further work. Simply, making yourself a check list with the required and suggested tasks that need to be completed by the day of the photo shoot. Do this several weeks before the photo shoot is set to take place to keep yourself on track.

Instructions

    • 1

Exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. Begin doing this as soon as you book the photo shoot if you haven't been doing it already. Your body will not look its best if you wait and fast a few days before the shoot.

    • 2

Practice posing in front of a full-length mirror. You can get some ideas by looking through fashion magazines. Trying new poses and facial expressions for 30 to 60 minutes per day will help give you an idea of what looks compliment your body type. It will also get you comfortable enough to perform for the photographer.

    • 3

Stay out of direct sunlight starting two weeks before the photo shoot is set to take place. Don't use any self-tanning creams after this time either. You do not want to take the chance that your skin will become discolored or uneven in color.

    • 4

Remove all unwanted hair three days before the photo shoot. This includes your underarms, legs, bikini area and face. Three days is necessary to give your skin ample time to heal from any cuts or irritation bumps.

    • 5

Confirm any last minute details with the photographer three days prior to the shoot. Know whether or not you need to bring make-up and your own outfits. Write down the exact time you are expected on the set. Obtain any driving details if needed.

    • 6

Get your fingernails and toenails painted two days before your photo shoot. Stick with a French manicure unless otherwise instructed by your photographer. You may also want to have any dead ends trimmed from your hair.

    • 7

Get a full night's rest the night before your photo shoot. You don't want to show up with bags under your eyes.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you normally trim your eyebrows, do it at least three days prior to the photo shoot to allow for any redness to disappear.

  • Bring snacks to your photo shoot, but don't pack anything that has the ability to stain your teeth or fingers (such as cheese puffs).

  • Never try a new hair color or a new hairstyle just before your photo shoot. It may not turn out how you expect.

  • Don't use any new skincare products before your photo shoot. You may have an allergic reaction to the ingredients, which could result in a breakout.
