Learn how to grow your business with loyal customers, drive higher sales and increase profits by following these 4 email marketing guidelines.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A business
  • A computer with an Internet connection
  • An account with an email marketing provider
  1. Step 1

Build your mailing list. Collect email addresses in your store by putting a sign up sheet near your cash register. Also, put a newsletter sign up form on your website.

  2. Step 2

Create your email newsletter. Decide what the goal of your newsletter is. Do you want to announce special events? Make special offers to loyal customers? Add your content for the newsletter to your email template.

  3. Step 3

Send your email newsletter. Select which customers you want to send your offer to and send it now or schedule it to be sent at a future time.

  4. Step 4

Track your results. After sending your newsletter, you can track how many people have opened your email and if they clicked on any links. If you are sending a coupon or special offer, make sure that you can track how many people redeemed them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Permission matters. Make sure you have permission to email each person on your list. You don't want your business to be known as a Spammer.
  • Track your results. If you find that no one is responding to your offers, try a different promotion.
  • Don't over-communicate. Send no more than 2 messages/newsletter per month to your mailing list.
