Are you looking for a fun prank to play on a friend? The text messaging prank is versatile, and when it's used in good taste, it's completely harmless fun. I did this to my friend, and it worked perfectly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A cell phone
  • Text messaging
  1. Step 1

First, you'll need access to your friend's phone when he's not around. When he's asleep, in the shower, etc...

  2. Step 2

Find yourself in the address book (or if you're not there, shed some tears and then add yourself), but change your name to the name of the person you want your friend to think is texting him.
It should be someone that doesn't text your friend a lot, otherwise the person you're impersonating might text your friend during your prank and give it away.

  3. Step 3

Start texting away! You could be your friend's father and ground him, or a female friend of his and admit undying love to him. It's up to you! Just make sure you think about the consequences of what you're sending and make sure it won't seriously hurt anyone's feelings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep it believable
  • If you're in the same room as your friend, you should set your phone on silent so your friend doesn't realize that your phone rings as soon as he sends a message.
  • Don't say anything that would harm the person you're impersonating
  • If your friend's phone shows full conversations, you'll need to erase any previous messages from yourself so your friend doesn't realize it's you
  • If your friend is fairly phone-savvy and suspicious, he can find out the phone number the text is coming from. This prank has to be a complete surprise.
