During the holidays, a special treat for either parties or family get-togethers is a bowl of roasted nuts. This is a quick and easy recipe for roasting and saving your favorite nuts. Serve these nuts plain as in this recipe or dressed up with a little sugar and spices for that special party. Bon Appétit!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 ¼ pounds shelled un-salted walnuts
  • ½ pound shelled un-salted almonds
  • ½ pound shelled un-salted pecans
  • ¼ pound shelled un-salted sunflower seeds
  • ¼ pound shelled un-salted pumpkin seeds
  • ¼ pound shelled un-salted cashews
  • ½ pound raisins.
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine nuts and seeds in a large roasting pan.

  2. Step 2

Roast for about 20 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Remove nuts from oven and allow cooling.

  3. Step 3

Add raisins and toss well. This recipe only calls for dark raisins, however, be creative. Add a mix of golden and dark raisins to the nut mix. Or for that extra fruit and nut treat, add a mixture of dried fruit bits to the nuts.

  4. Step 4

Store roasted nuts in an airtight container until ready to serve. The recipe makes about 6 cups of roasted nuts.

Tips & Warnings
  • To serve sugar and spice nuts: Add a tablespoon of melted butter to nuts and mix well. Sprinkle sugar and your favorite spices to buttered nuts and continue to mix until all nuts are coated with the sugar and spice mix. Place in roasting pan and follow the instructions for the plain nuts above.
