Taking care of the eyelashes you have is the first step to restoring their health. When removing eye makeup at night, especially waterproof eye makeup, use an oil-free remover and apply gently with cotton balls.
-
2
After you have cleansed your eyelashes and face at night, use a clean cotton ball to apply a light coating of castor oil to both sides of your eyelashes. This will moisturize the lashes while you sleep.

When looking for a product to further stimulate eyelash growth, you must be a savvy consumer. There are a host of products claiming to aid in eyelash growth, but only several that have been clinically proven at this time. The most prominent on the market as of 2009 is Xalatan, which is sold as an eyedrop solution. Lumigan, however, may appeal to more consumers as it is sold in a mascara-like tube, with a brush tip for application of the product.

Tips & Warnings
When cleansing your eyelashes, be careful not to pull on them. Pulling lashes, curling them, wearing fake lashes, and sleeping in mascara can all cause lashes to break or fall out.
Xalatan was created to treat the medical condition glaucoma, and does carry some possible negative side effects. These can include permanent darkening of eye color, darkening of eyelid and surrounding eye area, burning, itching and other possible irritation. If you do experience any of these, it is advised that you immediately cleanse the affected area, pat dry and cease use of the product. Lumigan was created to capitalize on the positive cosmetic side effects of Xalatan, but does carry the same risks. The active ingredient, prostaglandin, found in these glaucoma medications may be found in other products, but it is wise to stick to FDA approved products when dealing with something as sensitive as your ocular health.
