How to Cook With an Electric Omelet Pan

Because cooking an omelet using a frying pan is messy and tedious, many people instead choose to cook an omelet using a specialized electric omelet pan. The omelet pan cooks the omelet quickly, and without the need to worry about scooping curds, flipping or splitting omelets, or extensive cleaning. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Eggs
  • Egg beater, whisk or mixer
  • Measuring cup (at least 2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup milk or water
  • 2 paper plates
  • Spatula

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the electric pan into a power outlet. A light should come on signifying that the pan is pre-heating. Wait for the light to go off. (You may want to do steps 2 through 5 while you wait.)

    • 2

Crack the eggs on one of the paper plates, and put the yolk and egg white into the measuring cup. Repeat this step for each egg you want in your omelet.

    • 3

Pour the 1/4 cup of water or milk into the measuring cup with the eggs.

    • 4

Mix the eggs in the cup using the egg beater, whisk or mixer. You should mix them until there is little residue left when you dip the mixer in and out of the eggs.

    • 5

Add any additional ingredients you want into the egg mix. You may consider using turkey, cooked bacon, or potatoes.

    • 6

Open the pan lid and pour the egg mixture into the pan once the light turns off. If there are two or more areas for the egg mix, pour the mixture equally into both. Close the lid.

    • 7

Open the pan once the pan tells you your omelet is cooked. If your pan does not have an indicator, you should wait 5 to 6 minutes from closing the lid before opening it again.

    • 8

Remove the omelet with a spatula and place it on a paper plate.

Tips & Warnings

  • While mixing water into an omelet is healthier, milk delivers a better taste. The choice itself is up to you. A whisk or egg beater is preferred over a mixer because using the mixer may result in accidentally making a mess in your kitchen. However, the mixer is often faster.

  • Be sure that any ingredients you put in the omelet maker and egg mix can either be eaten raw, or has already been cooked. Be quick when getting the omelet out of the pan, or you'll burn the omelet.
