Instructions

    • 1

Buy a floor finish applicator and paint tray. They are available from most hardware and home improvement stores.

    • 2

Mix the Varathane well with a stick or wooden spoon. Fill the paint tray, leaving roughly 2 inches from the top to reduce spillage.

    • 3

Start the application in the area farthest from the door. This protects the Varathane from foot traffic if you must leave the room before the finish dries.

    • 4

Insert the applicator into the Varathane and apply it to the floor. Pull in one direction, following the wood grain. Lift the applicator and repeat the process until the floor is complete.

    • 5

Allow the finish to dry for at least 24 hours. The process may take up to 48 hours depending on the temperature.

    • 6

Apply Varathane in two or three coats. Let the finish dry completely before adding another coat.

Tips & Warnings

  • Gentle sanding before the final coat may enhance the appearance of your floor.

  • You cannot refinish vinyl flooring. Check the floor material before you apply Varathane floor finish.
