Make It Sparkle
-
1
Use a hot glue gun to trace a line of glue around the edge of the votive candle holder. Then, sprinkle a thick layer of glitter onto the glue. Let dry completely.
-
2
Create a design on the votive candle holder with a glitter pen, taking care not to touch the raised border of glitter on the edge. Cover the holder with a design, such as hearts, or write the initials of a loved one directly onto the glass. Let it dry.

-
3
Place the holder on a piece of shiny silver tin foil. Trace around the bottom the votive candle holder. Cut out the small circle, and place it into the candle holder. Put the candle on top of the foil. The light will reflect off the foil and the glitter to truly sparkle.
Create a Theme
-
4
Think about where the candle holder is going to go, or to whom the candle will be given, then plan a theme for the candle. For example, a candle holder that is going to be in a beach cottage might feature some sand and shells. A votive candle holder that is going to be given to a gardener as a gift could be decorated with dried flowers.
-
5
Collect the items needed to decorate the candle. Tiny shells could be used in the case of the beach house. Also find a small ribbon that will match the color or colors of the decor.
-
6
Use a hot glue gun to cover the surface of the votive candle holder with the items you have chosen. For example, the candle holder for the beach house could be covered with tiny shells, then sprinkled with glittering sand. The sand will naturally stick to the shells, or you can spray them first with some spray glue. In the case of the gardener, carefully attach dried flowers until the surface is covered with them.
-
7
Tie the ribbon into a bow and add it to the center of the votive candle holder with a dab of hot glue.
