Instructions

    • 1

Measure yourself carefully in a full-length mirror to determine your bra cup size. Begin the measuring process with your ribcage measurements.

    • 2

Take a soft tape measure and pull it snugly around your back to the front of your ribcage. Keep track of your ribcage measurement for further calculations.

    • 3

Now pull the tape measure across your back and over the front of your breasts. Do not pull the measuring tape snugly.

    • 4

Subtract your rib measurement from the full breast measurement to determine your cup size. A 1 inch difference equals an A cup, a 2 inch difference equals a B cup, a 3 inch difference equals a C cup, a 4 inch difference equals a D cup, and a 5 inch difference equals a DD cup.

    • 5

Purchase a bra cup for your swimsuit according to your desired size. Look specifically for cups that are molded for comfort, seamless, lightweight and water resistant.

    • 6

Put on the swimsuit and place the cups inside the swimsuit.

    • 7

Use pins to secure the bra cups inside the swimsuit.

    • 8

Carefully remove the swimsuit and prepare a needle and single thread (the color of your swimsuit) to hand stitch into the suit.

    • 9

Sew the bra cups into place using a whip stitch, working along the bottom edge of the cup and all the way around using close stitches. The whip stitch uses diagonal stitching on the bra cup side and goes through small amounts of the swimsuit fabric to secure the cup almost invisibly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the bra cups you purchase will not unravel when cut. Look for cups that are machine washable. Be sure to hand stitch the cups inside your swimsuit as machine stitching will make the stitches too visible.
