Your underarm area has many sweat glands. Sweat interacting with naturally occurring bacteria sometimes produces an odor. Commercially available deodorants can help control and manage underarm odor, but many of these products rely on potentially harmful ingredients. Get rid of your underarm odor using all-natural ingredients for a fresh smell that doesn't require chemicals.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup aloe vera gel
  • 1/4 cup witch hazel extract
  • 1/4 cup mineral water
  • Plastic spray bottle
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
  • Tea tree oil
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • Jar
  • Cotton pad
  1. Step 1

Wash your underarms thoroughly to remove bacteria and sweat, the two ingredients needed to create underarm odor. Wash in the shower or wipe down with a paper towel or washcloth. Allow your underarms to dry thoroughly.

  2. Step 2

Mix a homemade liquid deodorant. Pour 1/4 cup each of aloe vera gel, witch hazel extract and mineral water into a plastic spray bottle. Add a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin and two to three drops of tea tree oil. Close the spray bottle and shake thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

Mist the liquid deodorant on your underarms, spritzing the entire area with the solution. The witch hazel is a natural antiseptic that will help keep your skin bacteria-free. The aloe vera gel moisturizes and conditions your skin, while the tea tree oil adds additional antibacterial properties while freshening the smell of your underarm area.

  4. Step 4

Make a homemade dry deodorant as an alternative to liquid deodorant. Empty 1/2 cup each of cornstarch and baking soda into a jar or container with a cover. Close the container and shake it vigorously to mix the two ingredients.

  5. Step 5

Dip a cotton pad into the powder and dab it onto your underarm. Cover all areas of the underarm. Baking soda naturally deodorizes and absorbs bad odors, while the cornstarch helps keep the underarm area dry.

  6. Step 6

Use a commercial, all-natural deodorant, available at most health food stores, as well as online retailers such as amazon.com. This option is best for those who do not have time to formulate their own homemade deodorant.

Tips & Warnings
  • Chemical ingredients such as aluminum in some commercial deodorants and antiperspirants may cause skin irritations.
