Instructions

    • 1

Take the paper and draw a picture of a bone on it with your pencil. The bone can be 36 inches in length or smaller, depending on what size you want your bone-shaped pillow to be. Cut the picture out with your scissors.

    • 2

Fold the fabric in half, width-wise, with the wrong side of the fabric facing out, and lay it flat on the table. Lay the pattern of the bone on top of the fabric and pin the pattern to the fabric.

    • 3

Cut the fabric to the shape of the pattern and remove the pins.

    • 4

Pin the two pieces of fabric together, with the wrong sides of the fabric still facing each other, so they do not shift when you sew them. Place the pins a good distance away from the edges of the fabric to avoid accidentally striking them with your sewing machine needle.

    • 5

Using a regular straight stitch, sew one-half of an inch away from the edge of the fabric, and leave a one-eight-inch opening on one side of the bone shaped pillow to allow for insertion of the pillow stuffing. Back-stitch over the first couple of stitches and the last couple of stitches to reinforce them.

    • 6

Turn the bone-shaped pillow so the right side of the fabric is facing out.

    • 7

Stuff the bone shaped pillow with the pillow stuffing so that it takes on the shape of a bone.

    • 8

Using your needle and thread, stitch the opening to close it and finish the pillow. Insert your needle through the loop of thread you have on your last stitch to form a knot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sew pillow by hand if you do not have a sewing machine, or if you do not know how to use one. Fill your bone shaped pillow with enough stuffing so it is firm.
